Barcelona Set to Play First Game at Partially Completed Camp Nou on Saturday

Barça revealed they will play at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou on Saturday. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in domestic competition two and a half years after they moved out so building work could begin.

“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”

The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside as per the current authorization. Once fully finished, the Camp Nou is due to hold close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. Officials confirmed completed upgrades featured an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.

Preparatory Events

Barcelona held a public practice on the home pitch in early November. They mentioned they were hoping for permission from European football’s governing body for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side on 9 December in the renovated venue. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
