Palestinian-American Teenager Freed After Nine-Month Period in Israeli Custody

An American-Palestinian youth after completing 270 days in Israeli detention absent formal charges has been freed.
Mohammed Ibrahim was fifteen years old at the time of his arrest this past winter in the Israeli-occupied West Bank, while he was vacationing from his Florida home for allegedly throwing stones against settlement residents, which he previously denied.
The US state department applauded Mohammed's liberation.
Currently aged sixteen, needed medical care for treatment immediately after release, according to close relatives.
Family described him as pale, underweight, while battling health issues contracted in captivity.
Via family representatives, Mohammed's uncle expressed the family's "overwhelming sense of relief".
Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" during the entire detention period.
"Right now, our priority is getting Mohammed the immediate medical attention necessary for his recovery following exposure to Israel's abuse and inhumane conditions throughout his detention."
US officials announced ongoing to provide consular support to the teenager's relatives.
{"American leadership considers paramount to the protection and welfare for United States citizens"," it added.
Several congressional representatives submitted a formal letter to US authorities and President Donald Trump, demanding more be done to release him.
Mr Ibrahim, parent of four children operating an ice cream shop from Florida, had earlier stated Mohammed acknowledged allegations regarding stone throwing because the soldiers beat him.
He had not seen nor direct contact following the detention, receiving updates exclusively what had happened to him through judicial records.
He stayed lacking indictment within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.
Additionally housing adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted for major terrorist activities and murder.
An estimated 350 Palestinian child security detainees currently imprisoned in Israel, per correctional service statistics.
Many have never been charged along with monitoring agencies, and international organizations, report instances of abuse and torture.
After the teenager's freedom, the uncle stated they would maintain their efforts for justice for his cousin Sayfollah Musallet.
The 20-year-old dual US citizen who the Palestinian health ministry said was beaten to death by Israeli settlers during a confrontation during summer.
During that period, defense forces stated officials were investigating reports a Palestinian civilian had been killed.
Both young men collaborated within the family's frozen treats establishment from Tampa.
No charges have been filed regarding Sayfollah's death.
"We expect the American government to safeguard our relatives," Mr Kadur said.
