Tributes Pour In for Rob and Michele Reiner as Autopsy Reports Remain Under Wraps.
More than two weeks after the tragic deaths of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, peers and loved ones continue to honor the couple.
Quoting a Classic: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, mentioned he only now felt ready to express about his deep grief.
"Sufficient time has passed that I can at last articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "any day without mirth".
"The film is about love, loyalty and sacrifice. Principles that Rob held dear. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He additionally honored Michele Reiner, noting: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still pangs every time I remember you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Recalls a Friend and Collaborator
In a different piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he first met in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a natural affinity for each other. He was very funny and sometimes sharply witty, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese shared.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he understood the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
In a new development, a Los Angeles court official ruled to block the publication of the Reiners' medical examiner's reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate issued a security hold on the investigation to prohibit the public release of "any investigative information, evidence and photographs" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the outcome of murder, with a official listing noting the cause as "multiple sharp force injuries".
Fallout and Commentary
After the killings, public personalities expressed divergent responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing provocative claims that were met with immediate backlash by several public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his voice to the detractors last week. Conversing on his podcast, Rogan characterized the comments as "disappointing" and remarked they demonstrated a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan finished by proposing that an aide could have intervened when the decision to comment on the tragedy was made.
